Sustainable Tourism - L'Hôtel Littéraire Alexandre Vialatte Certified B at FairScore 2026

At the Hôtel Littéraire Alexandre Vialatte, environmental commitment does not confine itself to resource management: it also embraces a more solidaristic dimension, attentive to both guests and society. An approach now affirmed by the FairScore, the certification that measures the real impact of a stay, including overnight accommodation and breakfast.

FairScore in brief

Like the Nutriscore for food, the FairScore assigns a grade from A+ to E- to each hotel establishment, calculated using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology promoted by ADEME. This approach does not merely observe on-site consumption: it traces the entire journey of a product or service, from its manufacture to its end of life, incorporating its transport and use. Four indicators come into play: greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption, depletion of energy resources and the proportion of organic and eco-labelled products.

A B score, in accordance with the group's standards

L'Hôtel Littéraire Alexandre Vialatte receives a B, a grade aligned with that of several other establishments within the Société des Hôtels Littéraires group. The breakdown by indicator:

  • 5.9 kg of CO2 emitted per night
  • 364 litres of water mobilised over the entire life cycle
  • 51 kWh of energy resources consumed
  • 54% organic and eco-labelled products, one of the highest rates within the group

This individual result forms part of a collective trajectory: the overall environmental impact index of the Société des Hôtels Littéraires has decreased by 31% since the previous certifications of 2023.

Travel responsibly, and be rewarded for it

What sets Vialatte's CSR approach apart is its ability to directly involve guests in the initiative. With the Greenmiles programme, responsible actions taken during the stay are rewarded with tangible discounts, whether at the bar or on the in-room breakfast service. A way of transforming environmental commitment into a positive and gratifying experience for each guest.

Combating waste, right down to the plate

Breakfast surplus does not end up in the bin: the hotel has partnered with Too Good To Go to give unsold items a second life. An initiative that forms part of a broader approach to food sobriety, reinforced by short‑supply sourcing for all buffet products.

Breakfast

A social commitment, beyond the environment

The hotel's commitment extends beyond strictly ecological concerns: the establishment facilitates the professional immersion of people in reintegration, a démarche that illustrates a broader vision of social responsibility, where inclusion holds a place as important as environmental sobriety.

A momentum to be sustained

This FairScore certification, valid for three years, is accompanied by an action plan designed to deepen the efforts already undertaken. At Hôtel Vialatte, the equation appears plain: environmental responsibility and social responsibility advance hand in hand, from the valorisation of surplus breakfast to the support towards employment.
